LAST WEEKEND BEFORE CURLING ... THE ICE IS ALMOST READY!!

Rod and Terry, have been working since the end of August to prep the the ice shed for water.  Above, with a base in place, the entire sheet is painted white, then sealed.

Once the white paint is sealed, the house rings can be added.  Where we used to use prefab, rubber mesh units, our ice techs have reverted to hand-painted houses ... the look and accuracy of hand-painted rings is more dramatic.

And finally, before the top floods are added to create your curling surface, Rod and Terry (with help this year from Gerry) will add all the lines and advertising.

And that, curlers, is where we stand today!!  Between now and Tuesday evening, when the first clinic kicks off at 7pm, many thin floods will be added to reach our playing thickness.

And then ... off we go!

Here's to a great year ... Good Curling!!
